Moody Monday

Moody Monday founders Kiia Aarnio and Isa Heinonen became fashion entrepreneurs partly out of necessity during COVID-19 the pandemic, as like many others in the industry, they were laid off from their jobs. “The idea of having our own shop had been in the back of our minds for a while, Aarnio recalls about the early days, but at that point, we decided the time was right.”

The company was established in 2020 in Finland, and in spring 2021, their first store opened in Vallila, Helsinki.

At first, Moody Monday operated on a small scale, and Aarnio hadn’t planned to expand immediately. Soon there was an opportunity to open a store in Kamppi shopping centre. Growth continued from there, and now the chain has five stores and thirteen employees in addition to its two owners.

The story of the second-hand clothing company is marked by fast growth and constant changes, but one thing has stayed the same from the very beginning: the financial management software Finago Procountor. Finago Procountor has been in use since day one, recommended by their accountant, and years later it serves the company just as well as it did at the start.

Receipts and invoices sorted quickly – with just a phone

All of Moody Monday’s financial tasks are handled by Aarnio on her phone using the Finago Procountor mobile app, which allows her to capture receipts and manage invoices from creation to approval and payment.

On a typical day, Aarnio takes pictures of receipts, and the app’s automatic text recognition fills in key details like amount, purchased items, and purchase date. Aarnio only needs to save the receipt image with the information – it takes less than a minute. There is no need to use a computer at any stage, although the option is always there since the login credentials for the browser version are exactly the same.

“I only use Procountor on my phone. I use it anywhere, for example, if I buy something, I immediately save the receipt in the app. I can also approve invoices there. I basically never need to use the computer for these tasks,” Aarnio says.

One shared system saves time on financial management

With Finago Procountor, the division of tasks in financial management is clear: the accounting firm handles bookkeeping, and Aarnio ensures all receipts are uploaded on time. Taking photos of the receipts is quick, and nothing piles up for bookkeeping. Bookkeeping only takes me half a minute a day, says Aarnio. Her co-owner Isa Heinonen handles sales invoicing. Everyone uses the same system but focuses on different functionalities.

Thanks to the shared system, all material is in one place, and the accountant gets, for example, immediate access to the receipts without Aarnio sending them separately. All company financial data stays centralised, avoiding unnecessary messages and file searching.

Finago Procountor impressed with its ease: smooth from day one

Aarnio admits she was initially sceptical about Finago Procountor. New solutions can be difficult to learn, and no one likes spending extra time on training. She had no prior experience with solutions like Procountor. However, the app was a pleasant surprise. Implementation was easy, and the new software immediately helped save time on financial management. “I don’t like new computer programs, but considering that, Procountor has been really easy to use,” Aarnio says.

Above all, the simplicity of Finago Procountor has been the best part. When the app is easy and tasks can be handled anytime and anywhere, managing daily bookkeeping becomes far less of a chore – even if finance isn’t the most exciting part of entrepreneurship. Procountor saves a lot of time. It makes the annoying part of this work easy. Financial management is a necessary evil for a business – but when it works this smoothly, I can’t see myself changing it,” she sums up.
