Ahead of its time in 1976 – Finago Tower marks 50 years in action

Finago Tower, our headquarters, which rises above Keilaniemi in Espoo, was opened on 7 October 1976, 50 years ago today.

When completed, the 83.6-metre tower, then Neste’s headquarters, became the tallest building in Finland and retained that status for around three decades. Its interior design was just as bold as its height: the building featured open-plan offices at a time when they were still rare in Finland. In Espoo, the landmark is still known by the nickname “Raade’s Tooth”, derived from the name of Neste’s then President and CEO, Uolevi Raade.

Over the decades, the property has changed both its name and its occupants several times. In November 2025, it was named Finago Tower. Today, it houses 14 other companies, two restaurants and a gym, together with us.

A new era, the same spirit

Much of what made it special then is visible today. The white limestone from Sipoo still covers the façade and on the second floor, you’ll find rare alder parquet flooring, used in only two other places in Finland, including Helsinki Airport, alongside a classic coffered ceiling. And on the 18th floor we’ve preserved a ship’s wheel, a ship’s bell and a large globe from Neste’s seafaring days. History you can walk into while in our meeting spaces.

Since the summer we have revamped our office spaces to support real collaboration, real energy, real reasons to come in. To make our office a place we don’t want to miss being at.

“Fifty years ago, this building offered Finland a new vision of working life, ahead of its time. Over the decades, the tower has been home to companies from many industries, and now its story continues as the headquarters of a software company. For Finago, it is much more than an address: it is part of Finland’s history of pioneering, a legacy we have the privilege of continuing with the same courage,” says Finago CEO Lars Engbork.
