AI gets a lot of airtime. In financial management, though, it’s no longer just a vision. It’s a practical shift that’s already reality in businesses’ day-to-day operations.
Sakari Jorma, Finago’s Chief Technology and Product Officer, sums it up:

Financial management is a perfect environment for AI. Many processes are repetitive, rule-based, and produce massive amounts of data. Tasks that used to mean hunting down receipts, typing in details, and scanning for errors are now done automatically.
“No more typing data by hand. AI does it in a fraction of a second and posts it straight into the accounting system,” says Jorma.

The new Procountor is built around three AI capabilities
1. Ask – a conversational AI for finance and payroll
Ask brings conversation and precise answers into financial management.
Instead of having to know which report contains which piece of information, you can simply ask:
- Which customer was most profitable last month?
- How many open purchase invoices do we have?
- How has sales developed compared to the last quarter?
Ask analyses data and helps you find answers quickly. You can ask it to locate invoices in plain language: “What did I spend on consulting services last year?” or “Have all invoices from company X been paid?”
Over 1,600 sales data analyses have already been done in Procountors with Ask.
Going forward, Ask will expand further:
- Deeper business analytics
- AI-assisted invoice and receipt creation
- Enabling voice commands
- Building a knowledge base for payroll professionals, covering collective agreement interpretations and Finnish Tax Administration’s detailed guidance
A reliable knowledge base is particularly significant in payroll, where for example Finland has close to 180 collective agreements making it impossible for anyone to keep track of every exception.
“No human can know every single collective agreement by heart. But an AI agent can interpret them and answer questions based on them,” Jorma explains.
2. Junior – AI-powered automation
While Ask helps you understand data, Junior helps you automate workflows based on data flowing into Procountor. In 2025, Junior:
- Processed 4.6 million invoices
- Saved an average of 18.5 hours per company
It’s about quality as much as speed.
Repetitive tasks are precisely where AI performs at its best:
- Posting invoices
- Approval workflows
- Detecting exceptions
- Reducing errors
“Less clicking, more thinking. The system works for you,” Jorma says.
Next, Junior’s capabilities will expand to include:
- Onboarding will work from scratch, without the need for extensive historical data
- New accounting automations
- More AI-assisted workflows
The goal isn’t to automate everything for the sake of it, but to remove unnecessary work wherever it doesn’t add value.
3. AI + mobile – financial management where work gets done
